Another universally acclaimed album, Burst Apart has been branded with being “just as breathtaking as Hospice”. Burst Apart is a strong follow up to Hospice recieving equally enthusiastic reviews.
Battles - Gloss Drop
Gloss Drop, the second album from the American experimental pop/math rock band Battles is the band’s first release since Tyondai Braxton (the bands vocalist and guitarist) departed. Recieving mainly positive reviews, Gloss Drop features numerous vocalists and this compliments the music allowing many different aspects to be explored throughout the album.
Bon Iver - Bon Iver, Bon Iver
Bon Iver’s second album is described by many (Keith Meatto) as an “ambitious musical departure” from the first. Justin Vernon (vocalist) has said that each song on the album represents a place. Peaking at number one in numerous countries Bon Iver’s second album is a modern folk rock essential.
LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening
The third and FINAL album from LCD Soundsystem is labelled as “dance punk” and recieved universal acclaim from nearly all major music publications. The album dethroned Lady Gaga’s The Fame from its five-moneth reign on the Billboard US 200.
The Middle East - “I want that you are always happy”
The Middle East’s first full album and last “I want that you are always happy” utilise folk and post rock elements to combine uniquely and Middle East’s 2011 album mirrors this. The band having split up “before their time” are sure to leave a footprint in Australian music.
